Since its inception in the late 1970s, the UNESCO IHP has been a pioneer in the study of hydrogeological science, establishing a long-term groundwater programme unique in the UN System. The side event will serve as a testimony to IHP's efforts to improve knowledge of groundwater and to develop policies based on sound science. Staff and partners will present some of the IHP's achievements in this field.
