Universal Access to Documentary Heritage in Asia and the Pacific: Open GLAM webinar series
Within the framework of International Day for Universal Access to Information and in collaboration with Creative Commons, Open GLAM and the Memory of the World Regional Committee for Asia-Pacific (MOWCAP), UNESCO Bangkok Regional Office will organize a series of webinars on Open Access to Documentary Heritage in Asia and the Pacific. The webinars are designed to galleries, libraries, archives and museums (GLAMs) interested to open-up their collections under an open licensing framework to promote universal access to documentary heritage. The webinars will be facilitated by experts from UNESCO, Creative Commons, Wikimedia, Europeana and others. The 2020 Bangkok IDUAI celebration will focus on access to information, transparency and openness as the international standards taking forward in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. At the times of global crisis and beyond, GLAM institutions will be crucial in upholding public right to know and to access to information for present and future generations to understand the pandmic and inform scientists, historians and policymakers.
