Description
Webinar series: #2 Frontiers of global water science Despite profound knowledge of aquifer-system compaction and land subsidence due to groundwater pumping, the process is increasingly affecting larger regions and with greater consequences worldwide. UNESCO Land Subsidence Flagship Initiative aims to address land subsidence-related issues by advancing knowledge and enhancing collaborative research to support Member States/Regions in developing and implementing science-based solutions and policies as well as raising awareness and developing capacities on land subsidence. In this session, leading scientists will highlight the frontiers of the science of land subsidence, a snapshot of the situation in the world, the consequences caused by land subsidence, and good practices around the world. The presentations will be followed by a 25-minute Q&A session where participants can engage with the speakers.
